Welcome to issue 13…
Being asked to be Spirit’s guest editor caps a special year for me, after I successfully fought back from a serious knee injury.
As one of Triumph’s stunt riders it’s a peril of the job, but I was determined to get back in the saddle as soon as possible.
I was a terrible patient but being injured put things in perspective, which is why it’s fantastic that Triumph supported this year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which could mean the difference between life and death.
Later I reveal my secret anxiety, but it’s nothing compared to the psychological and physical torment that two Triumph riders endured as they tried to reach the Northern Lights. Their bravery is proof that anything is possible on a motorcycle as long as you have a dream.
Saying that, I’m not sure I could follow in the tracks of Jason DiSalvo, who is piloting the Triumph/Castrol Rocket pursuit of the land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Read on to find out how Jason and the team are stretching the human spirit and engineering to their very limits to keep the record in their sights.
There’s lots of other good stuff too… like the future of Ace Café, how love can blossom on a Triumph and some of the exciting new bikes coming out of Hinckley. So read on and ride on.
